Fibers offer an array of visual and tangible textures that can not be matched by other mediums. Viewers often find comfort in the softness, and relate the abstract qualities to foggy memories from their past. Learn more about the work I do, and where to find it for purchase. Spinning yarns allows me to create as I go, controlling the twist, size and texture of the resulting yarn. My favorite way to showcase these yarns is in woven pieces. I use a rigid heddle loom to create my woven works. Blending colors and textures creates wonderful unexpected surprises! Felting is a process to transform fibers into fabric, which always feels magical. Wet Felting combines layered wool as it is worked together with water and soap by hand to connect the fibers into each other, creating a solid piece. When needle felting, which is how I created my Dragons, a barbed needle was used to work the fibers tighter and tighter together with each insertion. Materials that don't shrink, like the variations of cotton used and silks, get incorporated as the wool fibers work through them.
